Engage your students in the Your Voice is Power learning experience and coding competition to learn computer science, social justice, and entrepreneurship by remixing songs on Georgia Tech's EarSketch platform!
What is Your Voice is Power?
The Your Voice Is Power competition is their opportunity to remix beats while learning to code. Yes, code! For the competition, students use EarSketch, a free online code editor, to compose a unique song while learning computer science.
No experience is necessary to participate.
What do you and your students need to compete?
The 2022 competition is now over! The Fall 2022 competition ran from October 23 to December 23, 2022 with one round for students to submit a song entry. Student songs were judged based on quality of music, code, and messaging by a panel of industry professionals.
Requirements for submission
Compose a song using stems from the EarSketch library and create a remix that inspires action and social change.
Song length must be between 30 seconds and 2 minutes
Song must have five (5) tracks
Music stems must be from more than one source/artist
Song must include at least one of the following:
For loop
Conditional
Custom function
Include a short reflection explaining the message or impact of your song, perhaps on your community
HOW TO SUBMIT
My students created their masterpieces and are ready to enter the competition.
There are two ways for students to enter their code and songs for the Your Voice is Power competition. Students can enter directly on the EarSketch platform or by using the link below. Before submitting, watch the video on how to enter the competition and find the URL to their song.
Find your script in the My Scripts folder. Expand the options by clicking the hamburger menu and click Submit to Competition. Complete the entry form and submit!
Need to submit externally? No problem! Click on the external submission link and complete the entry form.

10 Student Grand Prize Winners
Each Student Grand Prize Winner will receive a $500 gift card. The student's teacher will be awarded a $500 gift card and their school will receive a certificate.
10 Student Finalists
Each Student Finalist will receive a $250 gift card.
2 Best Young Artists (1 ES and 1 MS)
Each Best Young Artist will receive a $100 gift card
Top 2 Teacher Winners
Each teacher winner will receive a $325 gift card
